United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) wages pesticide war, supposedly on apple moths, but in reality on the American population

August 20, 2008

This is neither a joke, nor would it be very funny if it were one. It is extremely disturbing indeed.

In this interview*, the listener will hear political scientist Michael Parenti protesting an unprecedented war of pesticides in California and elsewhere against a little moth that supposedly threatens dozens of crops — an allegation that has never been proven. The government has been spraying pesticides, supposedly directed against this moth, by air, using low-flying airplanes.

Time-tested recipes of the fascist state are used by the US federal government to spray entire areas by air with pesticides, such as Santa Cruz or Monterey. Because by declaring the moth to be a severe “danger” to agricultural crops, they can make it an issue for Homeland Security. This means that nothing’s off-limits: any chemical, whether they are toxic, carcinogenic (cancer-inducing), contain hormones, or whatever they contain — it doesn’t have to be tested, because it’s a matter of “national security”.

Surely, we all trust that. After all, they’ve never lied to anybody before. The interview provides more details of how the American government is now fully unfolding fascist techniques to subdue a potentially disobedient population.

Fascism is not an anachronism, a frozen part of history long gone — it’s a state model, the total merger of corporate power with the state (as Mussolini himself put it), accompanied by repression of dissent at home and massive wars for profit and expansion abroad. Does any of that sound familiar?

It is time for American citizens to find out why the government is lying about the apple moth and what corporate interests this environmental and health crime is serving. People of the United States of America, the government is waging a war not only against far-off Afghans and Iraqis, they’re waging a war against you.

* Apologies for a little glitch somewhere in the middle of the mp3 file. Many thanks to TucRadio for providing the interview.
